The Swissphone RE729 pager features clear voice messaging in a compact, ergonomic package. Using regular AA batteries, the two-tone pager features a rugged housing weather proofed to European IP54 standards.
Features include monitoring and vibration functions, as well as optional voice storage (4 minutes). Three user-selectable alert settings allow for loud, discreet (half volume) and silent modes (with or without vibrate). In addition to showing battery level and current settings, the pager’s rugged LCD display shows a clock that can display time since last alert. An optional multi-channel version allows the pager to monitor multiple frequencies.
The programming kit allows users to modify programming of individual paging tones and to set up profiles on the single-channel model, with each profile featuring select groupings of alerts. For example, one profile can be set to all alerts, and a second profile for just a subset of alerts needed for when performing alternate duties.

| Batteries - It uses AA batteries. Either standard alkaline, Ni-cad, or NiMH. | Charger - The pager has a smart charging system. The pager knows how much charge each battery type needs and adjusts the battery status indicator accordingly. Dry cells will be identified and will not be charged. |
| Battery Status Indicator - Shows the level of the battery by a bar graph. As the battery is used the indicator goes down, so you always know how long your battery will last. Once less than 10% of the battery life remains the pager begins a reminder chirp and flashes the battery indicator. | Switch on/off - When a battery is inserted the pager will automatically turn on. To turn the pager on/off manually both buttons must be held down for about 4 seconds. When turning off, the pager begins a audible beeping countdown (about 4 seconds), with a loud unique chirp as the pager shuts off. This prevents accidental shut down of the pager. |
| Keys - The pager has two keys located on the top corners of the housing. The keys are designed in such a way that it's easy to push them wearing gloves but hard to accidentally push them during normal handling of the pagers. | Alerts - The pager can hold 16 alert addresses. Each address can be programmed to sound different, so there can be no confusion as to which alert was sent. This also can work in conjunction with the display indicator to further indicate who the alert was for (see below). |
Display - The LCD display has many uses:
